AKC Standard Poodles, Miniature Poodles & Toy Poodles

Standard Poodles are an energetic breed of dog that thrive when they’re given proper exercise, training, and guidance. They’re classified as a large breed of dog, however standing between 15-25+ inches tall and weighing up to 45-55 when fully grown. You may find some larger as well.

Standards were originally bred as hunting dogs. Their primary job was to retrieve ducks and other birds from the water. As such, they are naturally strong swimmers and are always ready to jump into the water! "There are always a few that don't" LoL

Standard poodles are one of the most diversified breeds. They have the intelligence to be simply the best, and the calmness to sleep all day. They can be serious and make great watch dogs, and yet they be a clown and have everyone laughing.

Standard Poodles are excelling in therapy work for all types of needs that us humans need help with. With their eagerness to please and devotion to people the right standard poodle will make an amazing service dog.

The standard poodle of today is just as athletic and fast as its ancestors. These dogs are proud, but don’t be fooled by the portrayal of snooty or arrogant poodles in the media: they are loyal and incredibly affectionate, and are always ready to take on a challenge.

Of course each dog is an individual, but you’ll find that our pups have an eagerness to learn and play as they become part of your family. For active families, standard poodles make great family pets: these dogs love to play fetch, swim, and take long walks! They are also great for the laid back family too, Snuggling on the couch is their favorite thing to do!

Standard poodles are a very clean breed, totally non shedding, no drooling and they never smell, well ok SOMETIMES they do.

Poodles come in a variety of coat colors so you can pick your pup based on your personal preference. Our pups come in white, black, brown, red, silver, and blue. Pick your poodle color!

Training

These pups crave training and structure, and in order to have a pleasant experience with a poodle in your home, they’ll need to be given boundaries, as well as a good amount of exercise. Some great training tools and materials are the book " The Art of Raising a Puppy"

Grooming

Poodles have a unique coat and therefore have unique needs to maintain their health and appearance. Whether you are looking for that doodle look or clean elegant poodle look, you’ll have to learn how to groom them regularly yourself or plan to have them groomed by a professional. Depending on the up keep every 6-8 wks. Will keep them looking great!

Nutrition

Since Standard Poodles are incredibly active, they’ll need a good diet that consist of balanced nutrition. Here at Hillside we believe in a diet with carbohydrates, good fats, lean proteins, and vitamins and minerals. I use a combination of dry kibble, fresh foods, oils, freeze dried, and antioxidants, vitamin, &mineral. We also believe in free range feeding our dogs with daily supplements as well.

Pearl Retiring

Pearl is a white standard poodle 55lbs and 25inches tall. She is most human like and very sweet. She has opinion about everything, is smart, and very athletic. She enjoys stealing the couch and going for car rides.

Rye is a dark brown(chocolate) standard poodle 42lbs and 24 inches tall. She is as sweet as they come. Rye is a non-fading brown both her parents are non fading. Her mom is from one on the older brown lines Cadbury and her Dad is our Spanish import Dandy

America is a red standard poodle 45lbs and 25inches tall. UKC Champion She is outgoing, smart, playful, and loves attention. She was born here is a third generation from our foundation girl "Flare".

She is a daughter of Felix

Jezzy is aDark Brown ( Chocolate) standard poodle 45lbs and 24inches tall girl. poodles. She is calm and quiet, super smart, &hunting instincts. Champion bred.

Kenzie is a red apricot standard poodle 50lbs 23inches tall. She is co-owned with Paula Ford of Aldea standard poodles. She is a couch potato, loves laying around, but loves to play and she learns fast.

Remi Retired

Remi is a black standard poodle 60lbs and 25inches tall. She is a very easy going loves to please and is very smart. She has produced some larger puppies with some being 70lbs. and several therapy dogs. Remi loves to please and be loved on.
